Becoming a Referee

You are interested in becoming a Referee and not sure what to do.
There are four parts to becoming a referee.

 1. Complete the course

  • Take (and pass) the Grass Roots Referee Certification course offered by the State Referee Department. The course is only offered certain times during the year (summer and winter) at various locations throughout the state. There is no age requirement, but course material is designed for reading and comprehension at the high-school level. 2. Get equipped

  •  Once you are certified, you need to buy your referee uniform, flags, whistle, cards, and a stopwatch or watch to do game timing. Kits may be purchased at Kicks Soccer Shop or online.
                   


3. Express an interest

  • Contact the Referee Assignor at Bluesprings Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) and let him know that you have been certified and are interested in reffing!  Please send an email to Rick Boykin assignors using the information below:

4. Continue your referee education

  •  Each year you are required to recertify, which is now completely online. There are also occasional referee meetings that you will be required to attend.    Referee meetings will be held at Creekside Sports Center.
